The Devil's Lounge (Second Edition)

The Devil’s Lounge is a 2 player duet TTRPG about the horrors that lurk on the interfaces we use to find love [or other things]. It follows the journey of a User, a person who falls into a contract that they do not fully understand with The Devil. The User is seeking something and is willing to pay a price for it. The Devil is magnanimous and perhaps otherworldly, and enjoys toying with its subjects.One player embodies The User, whilst the other embodies The Devil. 

Whoever is The Devil is the dealer of this game. You handle most of the cards and are expected to know the rules and the process. You pull the strings of our struggling love story and influence aspects from the shadows. You are not the centerpiece, but the environment of this tale. 

Whoever is The User is the central protagonist of the story. You will be dealt cards that you must contend with, and navigate The Lounge as best you can. You will hold the strongest say on the will of this protagonist, to a degree of course, for The Devil always has a say.

Both players will build a world together, and weave a story that encompasses the experience of The User. Perhaps they will find what they seek, perhaps they won’t. Regardless, they have entered The Lounge, and something within them is bound to change.

This game is born of experiences navigating dating and hookup apps in our digital era such as Tinder, Grindr, Bumble, Sniffies, etc. It is a story of self-transformation, about the monster you are becoming. It is intended for audiences 18+ with potential themes of horror, sex, gore, romance and violence.

This edition of the game draws strong mechanical inspiration from Bound Together by John Vanderhoef, Wickedness by M Veselak, the Pensive Mood game format encountered in Yazeba’s Bed and Breakfast developed by Possum Creek Games, as well as the Mortal Moves found in Godkiller First Blood Edition by Connie Chang. It also strongly uses the Crafted in a Shell SRD developed by Innocent Goblin as a way to shape the game in its earlier editions.
